Are you looking for a book that explains the theology of healing in a simple, straightforward way without a lot of hype? Do you have questions about whether healing is really for today? Do you wonder why some people are healed and others aren’t? If so, this book is your answer.

Originally published between 1888 and 1915, this book remains a standard for those seeking healing, while being quite readable. He offers a scriptural foundation, followed by principles of divine healing. He systematically counters objections that were popular then and that remain popular now. He then outlines practical directions, backed with personal testimonies.

Simpson doesn’t assume that healing must be immediate. Rather, he links healing to being totally immersed in and consumed by the person of Jesus Christ. This may take time and education. In fact, he opened his own home and the homes of others as “healing homes” where the sick could come for an extended period of teaching before receiving healing prayer. He believed that it was necessary to understand the principles before healing prayer would be effective and long lasting. And he realized that healing might not be instantaneous; the person might need to contend for it. In my own healing ministry, his approach makes a great deal of sense and has overcome many obstacles.

A.B. Simpson was an author, hymn writer, conference speaker, and evangelist who enjoyed an effective healing ministry in the New York area around the turn of the last century. He was founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination and a missionary statesman. He was also a simple man, totally devoted to Jesus Christ.
