He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which
yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers. ~ Psalm 1:3

Growing deeply... Healing Progressively... Maturing Splendidly...

When I look at the tender shoot of an oak that has recently taken root, I am struck by the potential God has placed in that fragile plant. If its roots have the opportunity to grow deeply and if it receives a “good enough” measure of sun and water, it will eventually mature into a mighty oak. But so much can happen a long the way...

Children are like those saplings. Full of potential, but tender and at risk for harm. How do we nurture our children to become all that God created them to be? How do we provide them with a “good enough” environment in which to grow? Although we aren't experts in childrearing, we home schooled our son for all but one of his first 18 years, and we were involved in home school leadership and training for many of those years. We love to come alongside home school families and those seeking to supplement their children's education and training, offering food for thought from a fellow pilgrim. We believe that if our children are rooted, protected, and nurtured in their early years, they have a much better potential to become mighty oaks of righteousness, a planting for the display of the Lord's splendor.
